The project
A DEATH OF THE STAR is a scenic performance in a triptych format. It consists of three stations, which will be presented individually and/or in sequence, provoking an immersion in multiple aspects of the central theme of creation: the failure of the theatrical representation system, with the questioning of hierarchies in the dominant scenic production modes, translated here in the social persona of the "star" and in the structure that sustains it.
Each of the three parts of THE DEATH OF THE STAR is proposed and staged by an artist from the scene, who leads the creative team and the cast, in an ensemble composed only of women. The predominant presence of women strengthens an exclusive territory, which is also drawn against the trend of favoring the male experience in the theatrical scene.
Thus, A MORTE DA ESTRELA also attempts to move away from a very common type of logic in the performing arts, which gives support and protagonism to a single dominant voice, operating in the process of creation, in the interaction between the creative areas and in the relationships between the creative areas themselves. artists (and, consequently, on the spectators). We summarize this dominant voice in the notion of staging, a unifying system of meanings.
Dramaturgy also does not intend to establish a continuous line of events, but to constitute, along the three parts and in a cumulative way, a fabric of words, silences, movements, pauses and images (real and virtual), in which moments of improvisation and play undo the impression of cohesion.
In place of these pillars of the representation system (stellar protagonism, unifying staging and linear dramaturgy), the simultaneity open to chance and the encounter can take shape.
In this way, a more chaotic and sensitive to the unexpected creative coexistence can emerge in the daily work, which points to a rhizomatic network, in active becoming, instead of a supposed final synthesis.
